MY 2-PART MORNING ROUTINE

SPOILER ALERT! IT STARTS THE NIGHT BEFORE!

My routine in the morning definitely sets the tone for my day! But what I found has the most profound impact on my morning is honestly what I do the night before!

I’m going to share my perfect formula for a morning routine, but this is just what works for me. I’ve tried a lot of variations but I’m not, by any means, suggesting that this is a “one size fits all” routine! Insert the “be you do you” statement here.

Also, I’ve only just added the lifestyle change of “water + exercise” recently and it’s part of what I attribute my 42 pound weight loss to in addition to an enormous burst of energy in my life these days.

If you find that you are struggling to get a focus on your day I highly suggest that you find a routine for your morning that works and then stick to it for 30 days to set the habit!

Ready, set, here we go:

PART 1 - THE NIGHT BEFORE: (15 mins)

  • Water Prep: Fill up 6-16.9 water bottles; take a 7th to bed and set on my nightstand for the next morning; put an 8th one on my bathroom counter to drink while getting ready in the morning. This, by the way, makes 1 gallon of water

  • Workout Prep: Set my workout clothes + sneakers out for the next morning

PART 2 - MORNING (5:45am - 7:45am)

  • Alarm: 5:45 Listen to an audible sermon for 15 mins upon waking

  • Hydrate: Drink 16.9 oz water bottle by my bed

  • Pray: Good morning Lord / Pray

  • Workout: 45-60 minute workout (Beachbody + Power Walking)

  • Podcast while walking on a subject I’m pursuing at that time

  • Devotional: read the Bible + another water bottle

  • Breakfast: Light + Bullet-Proof coffee

  • Shower: Get ready with another podcast + another water bottle

  • Gratitude: I start my workday with an attitude of gratitude, thanking God for something I’m thankful for

This morning routine has become a habit and a lifestyle. But it has been something I’ve had to experiment with.

Weekends do look different. But one thing that always stays the same is my night-before water prep. Staying hydrated has been a key to so many things for me, mainly, the fact that I’m not naturally a water-drinker!

I hope this helps to inspire at least one person that might be struggling with a non-productive morning.

Perhaps, like me, you’ll find that your morning needs to start the night before!
